In the State of Texas, you may qualify for a property tax break for your primary residence.  This is called the "Homestead Exemption".  This is in addition to other exceptions you may already have such as Over 65 or a Disabled Vet.

You may file for your homestead exemption beginning January 1 - April 30.  Some counties have on-line applications, the majority however will ask you to fill out a paper application and mail it into the county in which you live.

In order to file for 2021, you much have purchased your home in 2020. 

If you bought your home prior to 2020 and never filed you can still file for the homestead exemption.  Just fill out the application and submit to your county between January 1- April 30.
